It’s been a while! We took a little break over the past few months, and we’re excited to reconnect and share some updates, insights, and exciting things we’ve been working on.
Tackling the construction productivity challenge:
We all know that construction productivity has remained stagnant for too many years, despite endless efforts by the industry to improve. In response, BBI Services is delivering the digital Productivity Improvement Programme funded by the CITB and in partnership with Morrisroe.
The programme aims to drive productivity throughout organisations further supported by additional workshops and masterclasses. Hosted online, users can complete the pathways at their own pace and place. The programme’s benefits are not only increased productivity, but also achieving right-first time, and project certainty.
It’s great to see learners completing the programme and driving real benefits into their everyday roles and projects. Gary Disney, a senior technician from RSS Infrastructure, was our first learner to complete the Working Productively pathway. He has the digital credential to prove it! We asked Gary what he thought about the training. “It’s made me think more about waste. Instead of paying for repairs of regular faults we should be talking to the suppliers and getting them to fix them before we get the parts.”
There are fully funded places available for the Productivity Improvement Programme, provided by the CITB’s Industry Impact Fund. For more information, please email performancevault@bbiservices.com
A new manufacturing client:
We are working with a manufacturing company in the construction supply chain, focusing on their productivity, quality and performance. This project aligns with our strategy to tackle the construction industry at every level, driving improvements throughout the value stream.
This project also evokes some nostalgia, taking one of our team members back to their roots, to the environment they completed their apprenticeship in.
Project Spotlight: A large UK airport
We worked with a client and main contractor to support the installation programme of Central Security Area (CSA) lanes. The benefit: The night shift value-added, available time improved from 46% to a potential 73% on this critical programme.
While there are lots of new, exciting updates, we continue to work with our clients focusing on business-wide development strategies, driven by senior leaders to set the direction of their teams. Our approach integrates people, processes and performance as the foundation for improvement opportunities.
We have also welcomed various clients, contractors and supply chain members to our Construction to Production masterclasses at the Toyota Deeside Engine Plant. The attendees provided valuable feedback, highlighting opportunities for improvement by utilising production techniques within their organisations. We look forward to welcoming and inspiring more delegates for our masterclass programme throughout the year.
